St. Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal

Just once a year St Vincent De Paul have permission to hold a Church Collection, which replaces the usual Share Appeal. This collection takes place at all Masses this weekend and a member of our local Rush SVDP Conference will speak at each Mass. We thank all the members of our local Conference for all the work they do throughout the year on our behalf. Thanks to all, for your ongoing generosity to this worthy cause.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception

 The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is transferred to Monday December 9th.  For this year it is not a holy day of obligation, and so Mass remains at the usual time of 9am.

We Sympathise with the family of Philip Slattery, who’s funeral took place during the week.

Planned Giving 2020

Planned Giving envelopes for 2020 continue to be distributed this weekend.

  • They are now in alphabetical order which will make the process much quicker.
  • Please pick up your envelope from the main porch. 
  • We invite new families not currently contributing, to consider beginning their donation to the Parish in this coming year. This can be facilitated by the envelope collection or by standing order. We would be delighted to take your details as you leave the Church today or through the Parish Office.                                                                          
  • Last Sunday’s Planned Giving realised €980.           

We sincerely Thank all who through the Family Offering contribute to the upkeep of the parish.

Toy Sunday Christmas Appeal

Next Sunday 15th  December @ 11.30am we celebrate Toy Sunday. Children are invited to bring a small unwrapped new toy, clothes/accessories for distribution to children in homeless accommodation this Christmas. This is in conjunction with Focus Ireland. This is also our next “Do This in Memory Mass”.

The preparation meeting of  the co-ordinating group will be on Tuesday 10th  December @ 8pm in the Church.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place in the Day Chapel

  • Every Monday from 9.30a.m. to 12 noon.
  • Every Thursday from 7.00a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Every Friday from 9.30a.m. to 12 noon.
  • Every Sunday of Advent from 2.00 – 5.00 p.m. All Welcome

The Parish Combined Choirs Carol Service will take place in the Church this Wednesday December 11th @ 7.30pm. Parishioners are invited to bring along a gift for those in need which will be distributed through St. Vincent De Paul.  All Are Welcome to this very special Annual occasion.  

New Projector

We have installed a new projector to help enhance our Liturgy by displaying the words of hymns, scripture and prayers. We hope this will benefit all, especially the young, as they are so immersed in a world of technology. Parishioners who are skilled in preparing presentations and visuals are asked to volunteer – please leave your details in the parish office.

Loop System

We have enhanced our Loop System to improve the quality of sound for parishioners with hearing aids.

Christmas Book of Remembrance

Envelopes are available at the back of the Church for the Christmas List from this weekend. Please complete and leave back to the Parish Office or place in the Church Letter Box.

Christmas Cards

  • The Parish  office now has a beautiful selection of Christmas Mass Bouquet Cards in stock. If you are interested please drop in to see them. A Triduum of Masses will be offered during the Christmas Season for the intentions of all whose names are included.
  • Trócaire Christmas Cards are also available. Packs of 12 cards for €5.

Rush Senior Citizens

Rush Senior Citizens Christmas Party will take place on Monday 9th December in the Strand Bar Back Lounge. Meeting at 12.30 p.m. for dinner at 1.00 p.m. Tickets €10. Please phone Jean Boardman 086 3331640 or Vera Dempsey 087 6549521.

St Catherine’s National School Kenure

Annual Sponsored Swim: will take place on Saturday 14th  December at 11:30am at South Beach.  All proceeds in aid of books for the school library and school iPads.  All welcome.

Enrolment for the Parish Schools

Enrolment for Rush National School, St. Catherine’s National School and St. Brendan’s National School:  will take place from Monday 6th January to Friday 17th January 2020 inclusive.  Pre-enrolment application forms will be available from the schools’ office between the hours of 09:30 and 14.30.

Family Mass Children’s Liturgy Group

Family Mass Children’s Liturgy Group takes place each Sunday at the 11.30am Mass.  All children and their parents are welcome to this child-friendly service in the Day Chapel.

Rush Tidy Towns: 

The Rush Clean Coasts group are having a Clean Up of Rush South Beach on Sunday the 8th  of December.  Meeting in the South Beach car park at 11am. This is a great family event. All equipment is provided and all new volunteers are welcome. Refreshments afterwards in the Strand Bar.

Anam Cara North Dublin

The organisation that supports bereaved parents, is holding a Parent Evening for bereaved parents on Wednesday 18th December at 7:20pm in the Carnegie Court Hotel, Swords, Co. Dublin. This event is free and open to all bereaved parents regardless of the age your child died, the circumstances of their death, or whether their death was recent or not. Irish Cancer Society The annual Christmas Day Swim will take place at Rush Sailing Club, Rogerstown @11.30am.   Sponsorship cards in aid of Irish Cancer Society available from Jacqui Mc Crum 0868542220.

Loughshinny Christmas Fair & Tree Lights: Sunday 8th December , Christmas Fair will take place in the Community Centre from 10a.m. to 6p.m. Christmas tree light’s will be switched on at 4p.m.

Balbriggan and District Horticultural Society:  Christmas Flower Arranging by Margaret Curtis. Thursday 12th  December at 8.30 pm in the Scouts Den, Market Green Balbriggan Co Dublin, Admission €5.

Tea and biscuits included. The flower arrangements will be raffled on the night. Plants and seeds and gardening magazine swap.

Skerries Sea Sharps  presents an evening of choral Christmas music, conducted by Naoise Whearity, accompanied by Arthur Greene and with special guest Eilish Dexter (Soprano soloist) on Thurs 19th Dec 2019 at 7.30pm at St. Patrick’s church, Skerries. Tickets €10 available from choir members, Skerries bookshop and on the night. A donation from proceeds will be made to Skerries Autism Friendly Town.
