St. Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal:

Just once a year St Vincent De Paul have permission to hold a Church Collection, which this week replaces the usual Share Appeal. A member of our local Rush SVDP Conference will speak at all Masses. We thank all the members of our local Conference for all the work they do throughout the year on our behalf. Thanks to all for your ongoing generosity to this worthy cause.

 

Parish Christmas Card:

Over the coming days, a Christmas Card will be distributed to each home in the Parish. It will include the timetable of the Christmas Masses and Ceremonies. Please keep this information in a convenient place at home. We hope you will find this a useful initiative.

 

Christmas Mass Bouquet Cards:

The Parish office now has a beautiful selection of Christmas Mass Bouquet Cards in stock. If you are interested please drop in to see them. A Triduum of Masses will be offered during the Christmas Season for the intentions of all whose names are included.

 

Christmas Book of Remembrance:

Names of our loved ones who have gone before us may be written in a special book which will be placed on display upon the Altar steps throughout the 12 days of Christmas. These names will be remembered at all Masses over the Christmas Season. Please note that no individual names will be called out from the Altar on the Christmas Eve and Christmas morning Masses. Envelopes are available at the back of the Church for the Christmas List. Please complete and leave back to the Parish Office or place in the Church Letter Box.

 

Do This in Memory:

We celebrate Toy Sunday this weekend with the Holy Communion Children and all Children of the Parish. This year the toys will go to homeless Children through the ONE campaign under the auspices of FOCUS Ireland. Thank you to all children and their families for their thoughtful gifts. Our next gathering will be on Sunday 24th December at the 6 pm for the Christmas Family Mass.

 

The Confirmation Candidates:

The candidates will discuss Pentecost (Acts 2: verses 1-4) with the Julian Group on Tuesday 12th December.

 

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Every Thursday from 7am – 10pm and also every Sunday of Advent from 2pm – 5pm.

 

Christmas Carol Service:

We invite you to join us for our Parish Carol Service on Wednesday 13th December at 7.30pm. This special event includes our Wonderful 3 Parish Choirs and also the involvement of our local Schools Choirs. They are all collaborating together to make this a very special event in the lead up to Christmas. In time-honoured tradition, Parishioners are invited to bring along a gift for those in need which will be distributed through St Vincent De Paul. We look forward to seeing you. Admission is free and all are welcome!

 

“O Holy Night”

Our sincere thanks to the Parish Pastoral Council, St Maur’s Folk Group, the Hospitality Group and all the many volunteers who worked so hard to make last Sundays, “O Holy Night” concert such a special occasion. Our thanks to Liam Lawton and his orchestra for bringing such a lovely musical evening to Rush. Well done to one and all!

Planned Giving Collection:

Envelope Collection for Sunday 3rd December amounted to €1,185. Thank you for your generosity.

 

Skerries Sea Sharps:

Under the musical direction of Caroline Cutliffe will present an evening of Christmas Choral Music on Friday 15th December at 7.30pm in St. Patricks Catholic Church Skerries. Entry is by donation, with all proceeds to benefit the Peter McVerry Trust. Guest Performer on the night will be Operatic Tenor: John Scott. All are very welcome.

 

Anam Cara:

The organisation that supports bereaved parents, is holding its next monthly Parent Evening on Wednesday 20th of December from 19:30 to 21:00 in the Carnegie Court Hotel, Swords, Co. Dublin. This event is open to all bereaved parents regardless of the age your child died, the circumstances of their death, or whether the death was recent or not.

 

Balbriggan and District Horticultural Society:

Christmas flower arranging by Margaret Curtis on Thursday the 14th of December at 8.30pm in the Scouts Den, Market Green, Balbriggan beside Lidl. Admission €5 includes tea and coffee. All arrangements will be raffled at the end of the night. For more information contact 087 7520506.
