Harvest Thanksgiving:

Thank you to all who contributed, and special thanks to all the growers and farmers for the donations of their produce. A big thank you to all who contributed to, or who helped in any way towards setting up the beautiful artistic display, in particular, Sharon McGuinness and Brendan O’Mahony. This year the Harvest festival reached €2000 – Well done to all for their kindness.The generous response of the people of Rush will enable Our Local Conference of Saint Vincent De Paul to bring assistance and food to many families’ in need in our Parish. Brother Kevin’s Capuchin Day Centre also send their thanks for our donation towards feeding the homeless.

We ask God’s Blessing on the work of our Growers and Farmers for the year ahead.

 

Blessing of Animals:

Thank you to all who brought their pets to the Church and to all who organised and took part in this lovely event.

 

Planned Giving Envelope Collection:

Envelope collection for Sunday 7th October amounted to €1,161.Thank you for your generosity.

The Julian Group

The  Group will continue its programme with the Confirmation pupils on Tues. Oct 16th. This week’s Scripture Readings for discussion will be The Finding in the Temple (Luke 2: verses 41 -52) and The Baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan ( Matthew 3: verses 1-2, 4-6, 11-17).

The Franciscan Brother

The Franciscan Brothers send us Bro. Brian Johnson who will be speaking at all masses this weekend. The Franciscan Brothers were founded in Ireland in the early 1800s. They were founded to work with rural poor of Ireland. Their work included Religious and Secular Education, Agriculture, and Rural Development. They now have missions in Kenya and Uganda. Included in their work in East Africa are education, sustainable agriculture and rural development, food security and famine relief.

 

Mission Sunday next weekend will replace the Share Collection.

 

November Mass of Remembrance:

Every year during November the parish community prays a special mass in which we remember all our loved ones who have died since this time last year. The mass will take place on Saturday 3rd November at 7 pm. Refreshments will be served after mass. While Special Invitations will be issued shortly to each family of course all are welcome to attend.

 

November List of the Dead Envelopes:

The Envelopes will be available at the back of the church next weekend.Please take one home with you, enclose your family dead list and return to the Post Box, Sacristy or Parish Office. All the names are included in all Masses on the First Friday throughout the year. “It is a Holy and Wholesome Thought to pray for the Dead.”

 

Rush Community News 

For over 30 years Rush Community News has given us news of events in our village together with a great collection of photos. To preserve and keep this information for future generations we want to put together a collection of The Community News in book format in both the Library and Community Centre for everyone to read.  Do you have any copies in your house from any year? If so please drop into Rush Community Centre.

The Council will hold their AGM on 21st November @ 8 pm.All new committee members must complete an application form & return to Rush Community Centre on or before the 7th November.  Forms are available from Rush community Centre.
